I had a baby black cat maybe 2 months old until 19 years and a few months at which time his health quickly went downhill.
We had to put him down which was so hard. My daughter and I still talk about him every day.
He left his pawprint on our hearts.

This book doesn't try to rush you through anything or tell you to get over it. It just sits with you, if that makes sense. The short chapters were perfect because I couldn't really focus on long readings anyway. There's something about the way its written that feels like talking to someone who actually gets it. I used one of the little rituals when I finally cleaned out his favorite sleeping spot, and it helped more than I expected.
The bonus journal thing was nice too - I wasn't sure I'd use it but ended up writing down some of my favorite Max memories. It felt good to put those somewhere safe. This book won't fix the sadness, but it made me feel less alone with it. Sometimes thats enough.

This was a warm personal memoir about grieving a cat. Having had mine for over 2 decades, I can truly relate to this experience. Though ai was not a possibility back ten, I do believe it can be helpful today in processing grief and associated loneliness. You may have to open your mind for this touching account to sink in, but I believe in our current times, the author's methods of grief processing are worth a look.
