When a Pet Dies was written for the profound and often underestimated grief that can follow the death of an animal we love.
Our animals become woven into the ordinary architecture of our lives—the morning routines, quiet evenings, walks, meals, celebrations, difficult seasons, and thousands of seemingly insignificant moments that eventually become a life shared together.
When they die, we don't only grieve their death. We grieve their absence from all of those places.
This book does not ask you to move on, find closure, replace your companion, or make something positive out of your loss.
It is simply here to offer some understanding and companionship while you find your own way through what has changed.
A Note From the Author
My name is Jesse Kuhn. I'm a widowed father raising three little girls who deeply love animals.
Animals have always been woven throughout our family's life. We've adopted them, cared for them, built our routines around them, found comfort beside them, and eventually had to say goodbye to some of them.
Our animals have also been an enormous source of companionship and comfort through some of the most difficult years of our own lives.
I know how profoundly an animal can become part of the emotional fabric of a family—and how much their absence can change the world around us.
Making When a Pet Dies available here isn't a promotion or a sales campaign. My family and I simply wanted to give something back to a community of people and organizations we deeply love and appreciate.
